Ishihara Color Test Books

Ishihara Color Test Books

The first innovation in Ishihara Color testing in 100 years!
We’ve taken a genuine Kanakara-Japan manufactured Ishihara test and laminated the pages to
provide protection from fingerprints and other damage. Photospectrometry tests were then run to insure
that the laminating process did not affect the color.
In some jurisdictions, Ishihara remains the required test despite superior results achieved with HRR
testing. Occupational and Pediatric applications can jeopardize the cleanliness and longevity of any
color tests as fingerprints are very damaging to the color inks. Richmond’s Laminated Ishihara is
intended to address these issues with a protective non-glare coating proven to leave the original ink
colors unchanged. This protects the Ishihara color test for many years of use. Further, we’ve used the
same spiral binding used on our HRR book to permit presentation of ‘one plate at a time’.
Amsler Grid and Laminated Ishihara Plates
Many protocols require the administration of both a color test and Amsler Grid. Combining the two tests
in one book provides a convenient way to fulfill these protocols.
Amsler Grids are used to detect, localize, and analyze the visual functional disturbances which
accompany the beginning and evolution of Maculopathies, Retinopathy, and Metamorphopsia.
The 4 Amsler Charts include:
1. Standard Amsler Chart white lines on black background.
2. Amsler Chart with diagonals with white lines on black background-used in cases where the central
point is not seen.
3. Standard Amsler Chart except with red lines on black background -used in cases of colorscotoma.
4. Amsler Chart with subdivided squares in the center. Uses white lines on black background- for a
more minute examination of the Juxta-central Area, where the rectangle with the subdivided squares
indicates limits of the Fovea.
Deluxe Version: Ishihara, Amsler Grids and HRR Acquired Color Plates
This Deluxe option combines the 14 Plate Ishihara, Amsler Grids and 8 Acquired Color test plates from
the HRR 4th Edition – all Laminated. The first two plates of the HRR section demonstrate to the patient
how the test works. The next six plates (screening series) present three levels of difficulty of the yellow
and blue plates. The first two plates define the subject as having ‘normal acquired color vision’. The
subsequent 4 plates (diagnostic series) determine, if needed, the extent (medium or strong) of the tritan
defect.
Note:
– All Ishihara sets are CE Marked.
– The 24 and 38 plate versions are bound in an ‘accordian’ style (both unlaminated and laminated).
– Ishihara 8-plate color book, unlettered pediatric with CE Mark. Also includes 2 legend cards and is
sometimes referred to as the 10 plate pediatric Ishihara test book.
